Our charming children's bookcase is both stylish and in keeping with the Montessori principals.
The shelving is made from thick reclaimed mature wood sourced from right here in the UK. We have meticulously sanded and finished the chunky antique wood, flaunting all of it's patina and charm, whilst leaving it smooth to the touch. Nail holes, scars, and dents have been revealed under a new light, which is impossible to reproduce in cheaply made, mass produced furniture. The extremely unique, robust and heavy bookshelf is made from box steel, giving a true statement shape and feel to the bookcase. If you are looking for an open toy storage shelf that screams iconic interior design, this is it.
Every bookcase is handmade to order in our Devonshire workshop, which means we can alter the dimensions should you require.
The wood finishes available for this item are Antique Pine (light) and Antique Oak (dark), and Natural. Pictured is Natural

Please note, the natural finish has no stains, oils, waxes or treatments. The wood is sanded, and then nothing applied. We’ve found this is fairly durable, however it will not withstand spillages of juice (or wine!). Luckily, spillages and other marks, instead of being wiped off can be sanded out fairly easily with some 240 grit sandpaper. This is how we keep ours looking lovely, even with our twin toddlers!

Condition
Our pieces are full of charm and patina of a bygone era, they are irreplaceable and timeless in style, carrying with them a story. As our items are preloved, it is to be expected that you may find some nicks or dents to the woodwork, and by flaunting all of their flaws and imperfections, it only enhances their character and beauty. As our items are handmade to order, there may be slight variations to the photographs - the wood may be a slightly different colour, and grains and markings, locations of knots and scars will be different, welds may larger or smaller. All of our pieces are quintessentially classical in design, and exhibit the almost lost art of detailed joinery and perfection that we no longer find in modern times. Our pieces are not only timeless and individual, but they are also the green option as for every piece that is restored, another tree is saved.
